Who we are
PicksByTown is a directory of local service businesses, published by PicksByTown Editorial, a small Delaware web firm. You can reach us at [email protected]. By using this site or buying a listing you agree to these terms.
The directory
Listings are built from public data and ranked on signals we can check ourselves, as described on the How we rank page. A listing is not an endorsement, a license check or a guarantee of anyone's work. Before you hire a business, confirm its license and insurance yourself and get written estimates. Details can be out of date; if you spot an error, tell us and we will correct it.
What a paid listing is
Business owners, and agencies acting for them, can buy a Claimed listing or a Verified Pro listing. What each includes and its current price are on the For business owners page. A paid listing never changes a business's position on the page. Position is set by public data, and nobody can pay for it.
When you buy, you confirm that you own the business or are authorized to act for it, and that the details you give us are accurate. We may decline or remove a listing for a business we cannot confirm is real, that is not in the town and trade it was listed under, or whose details are misleading. If we do that, we refund the payment in full.
Billing and renewal
Claimed and Verified Pro listings are annual plans. Payment is taken by card on our checkout page, and the plan renews each year at the price then shown on this site until you cancel. We email a reminder to the address on the listing before each renewal. Sponsored slots renew monthly, and a sponsored guide is a single payment. Charges appear on your statement as PICKSBYTOWN.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time by emailing [email protected] from the address on the listing. Cancelling stops the next renewal. The paid features stay on your listing until the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds
If you change your mind within 14 days of a payment, email us and we refund that payment in full. If we cannot publish your listing, we refund it in full. After 14 days, a payment for the current period is not refunded, and cancelling stops any further charges.
When a plan ends
When a plan ends, the Verified Owner badge, the direct link and the owner-supplied details come off the listing. The business may still appear in the directory from public data, like any other business. To have a business removed entirely, email us.
Your content
Photos, descriptions and other material you send us for a listing must be yours to use. You allow us to publish them on the listing for as long as it is live.
Liability
The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our liability for anything connected with a paid listing is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the previous twelve months. We are not a party to any agreement between a visitor and a listed business, and we are not responsible for a listed business's work.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms, and the date above shows the latest version. A change to price or to what a plan includes applies from your next renewal, not during a period you have already paid for. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware.
